Sunday
A lovely visit with Grammie and Grampie (I am noticing a smidge of similarity between Grammie + Liv in this pic).

Back When I Was Young...
I can't say enough about how proud Steve and I are of Olivia, who relishes her role as a big sis. Here she is, excitedly sharing one of her favorite toys with Leo.

Like Road Runner
You know how in cartoons, when the character scrambles really quickly to run and they're airborne (with sound effects)? That's how Olivia has been running lately. Usually, she's as slow as molasses. Could it be a few weeks of ballet have brought out...gasp...the speed in her?
Two-fer
Leo had an ear check up, and Olivia needed an allergy medicine refill, so off to the doctor we went. He walked in and stopped in his tracks when he saw Olivia's ruby red lips. "My what fancy lips you have there!"
Rummaging
I heard Olivia rustling around in the kitchen, and was in the middle of sending out an email so I didn't look. Plus, she sounded so purposeful, like she knew what she was doing. Boy did she ever!

Progress Report
What a treat, Olivia came home with a progress report today. Overall she is doing very well. We have a few lower case letters to work on, but other than that we're so happy with her report - and as we talked about it, it was clear Olivia was proud of herself. Her teacher writes: "Olivia is doing a good job in preschool and I really enjoy having her in class - she is sweet and creative. Olivia has a great imagination and she is a good friend." Steve and I decided to get her a little treat, so Steve picked out this sweet Rose plant at "the jewel."

I Should Mention
My camera is broken - hence the fuzzy phone pics. Might be a bit before she's up and running again...
Really
Oh Leo! What a sweet, sweet dude! While Liv and I girled it up, Leo hung with Steve and watched football.
Special Time with my Gal Pal
Olivia and I spent a lot of QT together this weekend - we made glitter picture frames, played house, barbies...

Half Birthday Cake!
We made a PW's chocolate sheet cake in honor of Leo's 6 month. Olivia was aghast at the fact that I would not let him eat any.
6 Months!
Where has the time gone? It's hard to believe this sweet babe is halfway to one. He has a wonderful disposition - loving, laid back, and full of giggles. Never one to miss a feeding, he now loves the food we've introduced him to - veggies, fruit, and most recently chicken and yogurt. Above all, his favorite thing is to be with Olivia - who is so loving to him. Leo goes by many nicknames, but is most commonly called bubba, Leonardo, or bag o' doughnuts.
Comfort Food
Almost once a week I make a roast chicken - it is so easy, and best of all, Olivia loves it. I slice 2 lemons, and squeeze the juice over the chicken, and add some olive oil, salt and pepper. I use a dutch oven and cook it for 3 hours at 350. I take the chicken out (it is usually falling off the bone at this point). Then add 1 chicken bouillon cube to the drippings, and sprinkle enough Wondra to thicken it - makes a fantastic gravy. Tonight I made this with rolls and broccoli and Olivia ate all of it!

Caught Kind Handed
The other day Leo was (supposedly) napping when we heard some squawking. Olivia muttered under her breath: "I better go check on my best guy" and hurries upstairs. So I watch via monitor as she climbs in the crib, and puts a comforting hand on Leo's face. Then she takes off his pants to check his diaper, puts his pacifier in, and turns on the mobile. What a sweet sis.

Northside
Annie + Alex are now homeowners! They had us over for a lovely evening with good food, and even better company. Hopefully the kiddos weren't too overwhelming!
Have At It
While doing some basement cleaning Steve set Olivia up under the stairs with a permanent marker and no rules. Let's hope she doesn't think this applies to other areas of the house!
