Cool Globes Houston

So very humid. My camera can barely take it.

Wendy and Bobby F Kennedy Jr meet some of the KIPP academy students who presented their ideas to help stop global warming.

Starting off with a Q&A session about their fishing experiences, the kids listened with rapt attention to Bobby's talk.

Rain or shine, these kids were going to check out the globes.

One of my favorite new globes by a local Houston artist, focusing on wind power.

Just to the right of these globes will be a skating rink in December.

There were two of these gorgeous public art pieces - that housed the stairwells to the underground parking garage. Form and function can happily co-exist!

Ack, still so humid.

Such an inspiring talk!

Mayor Bill White

Mini globe silent auction at The Grove restaurant.

Very appropriately titled "oops."

I love the subtlety of the globe in the rocking chair.

Houston was one of our most well received exhibits since Chicago. The support was amazing, the artists were incredible, and the sponsors were eager to partner and spread the Cool Globes message. Not to mention the kids - who partook in our public grand opening event. The exhibit is at Discovery Green, which is an urban oasis - a park in the middle of downtown that was once a parking lot. It is the perfect location for these globes, and just may be the last US location as well. Come January, they will be packed up and headed to Europe!
